vTag®: A Novel Approach to Meeting UDI Compliance

(Last Updated On: September 20, 2023)

vTag® solution is uniquely positioned to meet global traceability regulations for multiple industries – specifically UDI requirements for non-sterile implants. In this sector, current GS1 identification solutions including, barcode, RFID, QR Codes, and Direct Part Marking (DPM) technologies are inadequate because a) parts are too small b) marking changes qualification/performance, c) is prohibitively expensive or d) there is significant adoption concerns. vTag® is a proven breakthrough solution that can track and trace individual items without altering it. In this talk we will discuss our case study where we partnered with a medical device manufacturer to meet UDI requirements for non-sterile implants as outlined in EU MDR, ranging from orthopedic screws to instruments. In addition to providing compliance, we shall discuss additional value beyond compliance and show how vTag® increases security capabilities to fight a growing counterfeit crisis and supports real-time inventory tracking.
