Beware of Nikon Camera Counterfeits

The Nikon company, famous for their professional cameras has released a statement announcing their recent issue with counterfeits. The world famous company has also released images about how to identify the fake items from their authentic items. These spotted visual differences leave hopes that consumers will feel safe with their purchase. Most people neglect the fact that there are other counterfeits out there, not just fashion items. Counterfeit consumer electronics come in at number 4 on USA Todays top 10 most counterfeited items. With the value of seized counterfeits totaling up to $85,115,639. In the worst case, counterfeit electronics can be very harmful to consumers. Nikon stated that the counterfeited parts are their rechargeable batteries which are not going through the Nikon safety protocol or built in with their safety mechanisms. These counterfeit batteries can lead to serious injuries caused by battery explosions and fires leaving consumers with burns and chemical injuries.

It is highly recommended to try your best to purchase Nikon items that are authentic from reliable retail stores to prevent any harm to your electronic items and yourself. The use of counterfeit batteries can permanently damage cameras and lenses. The differences between the counterfeit batteries and the authentic batteries are so subtle that it can be hard for a consumer to recognize them.
