Many brand owners and consumers are not aware of the severity of a supply chain attack.

Attacks on supply chains are made every day. It is very common that counterfeit and/or suspicious product stories are released. A large scale reason why so many companies are shocked to find out that their supply chain has been negatively affected, is that they simply did not know how to take steps toward protecting their brand. Even companies that are commonly known names go through this horrible experience. Unfortunately, new ways to hack information are constantly being developed. It is crucial to remain open to different ways to properly protect. Protecting the brand not only protects against liability but also protects the consumer and brand reputation.

In January a very informative article from CSO was published. The article gives an in-depth explanation on different types of supply chain attacks, as well as how involving third-party companies can possibly end negatively. The article mentions a fascinating statistic that states “According to a survey conducted in the fall of 2018 by the Ponemon Institute, 56 percent of organizations have had a breach that was caused by one of their vendors.” This statistic is especially fascinating when you take into account just how many organizations exist; now to think that more than half have been involved with a breach all caused by a vendor of theirs.

The problem of supply chain attacks is a consistently increasing issue. Covisus is aware of just how bad this issue has become. One step toward brand protection is identifying tampered products and stopping them in their tracks. Product identification and traceability can be made simple with the Covisus vTag® solution. This solution allows a virtual tag to be placed on products without leaving a visual mark.

Don’t let your brand be the next published counterfeit story.
